I painted this from a reference photo I took while aimlessly walking around Cattle Point, Victoria, BC. It was just after a big storm and the logs, that had been thrown around in the ocean waves like matchsticks, were still unbleached from the sun.

I
originally had a very dark background in this piece but wanted to play with
colour a bit which in turn left my garlic bulbs looking very dull. Solution?
More colour!
Another item I've
had for a very long time! I've always thought I'd paint this rice bowl at some
point...the parsley was the last of the herbs in the garden.

This is a
scrumptious cheese from nearby Salt Spring Island. It 's so creamy you would be
tempted to eat it with a spoon. The composition of this piece came together for
me when I included my Victoria BC, souvenir teaspoon with the totem pole
handle.
The beauty of the
coastline around Victoria is always inspiring....even on a cloudy day! I took
the photo reference for this painting on one of my many walks round the area.
